“For over 30 years, I have had the good fortune of developing an eye for beauty as I photographed more than one hundred thousand art objects in museums, mansions and homes. Unique, handmade art and design objects enhance and add value to our everyday lives. For this purpose, I created a welcoming, homelike space to showcase Finnish artists and designers, to make their work visible and available to both international and local visitors.
Amazing talents put their hearts and efforts into 57 exhibitions that we curated together over the first seven years of Lokal’s life. I have also had the joy to be invited to curate exhibitions for other institutions.
I am extremely grateful for the recognition that Lokal received with the Vuoden Designteko 2015 Award (the design deed of the year) and the Finnish State Design Award 2017.”
